Bat Systems
Pottery Bat System's
A pottery bat system is a setup that lets ceramicists easily remove and replace the clay work from the wheel without touching or distorting it, which is especially useful for projects that need precise forms and consistent results. The system consists of a wheel head (the top of the pottery wheel) fitted with bat pins and throwing bats—round, flat boards that attach to the pins and hold the clay securely during throwing. After throwing, you can lift the bat off the wheel, keeping your project intact for drying or additional work.

Choosing the Right System
To select the right bat system, consider the following:
- Bat Size: Larger bats work well for wide or heavy pieces, while smaller bats are ideal for finer, detailed work.
-
Pin Configuration: Our systems use a universal standard pin configuration, which is 25.4cm centre pin to centre pin.
- Material Preferences: Our Weathertex bats are extremely durable and eco-friendly, providing a stable surface for various clay projects.
